Let’s improve your emotional wellbeing

Make Sense of What’s Going On In Your Life

Simply Counselling Matters is a safe, confidential and non-judgmental place.

It is a regular time and space set aside just for you. You can talk about your difficulties and be listened to, in a relaxed environment without interruption from the outside world.

It is your space where I help you to make sense of what’s going on in your life where to improve the way you feel.

Getting You Back On Track

I provide you with professional, effective counselling usually one hour per week in a friendly setting where you will feel supported and understood.

This means talking through your problems and finding other ways to look at them.

I can teach you simple techniques to help you manage them, getting you back on track as quickly as possible.

I’m Here To Help You

You may be at a point in your life where you feel anxious, sad, worried, afraid or unhappy and perhaps unable to cope.

At such times friends and family can be helpful, but often it can be more helpful to talk to an experienced professional counsellor not involved in your situation.

You may not know what the problem is. You may just feel you have lost your way and need help and support to find the right path for you to feel better.

Or it may be clear to you what your difficulties are, you just can’t find a way to cope.

Whatever it is, I am here to help you.

Together we will explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

Deborah Armfield Reg.MBACP

Counsellor & Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

“As all problems in the body are a combination of both physical and psychological imbalance, I often find the best way to get a full recovery is to allow the brain to let go of tensions that have built up over time.

In my 30 years of experience, Deborah is the only Psychotherapist I have confidence in to find the root cause and provide simple, workable techniques to free the problem.”

Dr John Brazier

Owner, K.O.R.E Therapy

“I immediately felt calm and relaxed so I could be open and honest about how I was feeling.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Deborah’s services.

I have spent time working with other therapists and feel I have achieved so much more in just a few sessions compared to working with other therapists over many months.”

Simply What Is Counselling?

Counselling is about you and I working together.

Learn how to deal with anger, guilt & forgivenessWhen you are talking freely, and I am listening attentively, an awareness of how you relate to yourself, other people and situations is developed by both of us. By exploring how you have dealt with the past, directly relates to the way you think now.

Sometimes that way of thinking isn’t helpful to you. It has become a habit or a pattern affecting your belief about yourself and your life.  I can help you to break the unhelpful thinking habit and build a new more productive way to think.

To encourage better ways for you to cope with the difficulties you are experiencing.

I will not advise you or tell you what to do but I will help you to use your own ability to enable you to make those positive changes you need for a better future.

When you work with me you will develop understanding and more and more skills to help yourself as time goes on.

I offer a relaxed yet professional approach where you will feel understood and supported. Our sessions are for one hour, usually on a weekly basis.

There is no limit to the amount of sessions and a regular review of how you are progressing is provided.

What Is Psychodynamic Counselling?

It is an effective way to learn about yourself and why you think, feel and behave the way you do.

Discover how to reduce stress & anxiety

All your past and present relationships including family; friends; lovers; teachers; colleagues the experiences you have had and environment in which they took place, have a direct influence on how you think, feel and behave at present.

So, as you talk to me about your experiences at home; socially, school, work etc I can help you to and make sense of your past.

With this understanding of yourself and why you think feel and behave the way you do, you can make simple effective changes to take into your future.

What Is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?

It’s a type of therapy useful to help you to manage your problems.
